The Accidental Icon

Sir Alan Yarrow's life began in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in 1951, with his early education at Tanglin School in Singapore. But his path to prominence was anything but ordinary.

From Art Prize to

Soon realizing his artistic flair was fleeting, Alan headed to Paris in 1969 with dreams of graphic design. When that commitment proved as sturdy as a house of cards, he smartly pivoted to the more lucrative Financial Services sector. This move saw him ascend to chairmanship of several companies.

Lord Mayor and Global Traveller

Alan's ambition didn't stop at the corporate ladder. He became an Alderman of the City of London, then Sheriff of London, culminating in his role as Lord Mayor from 2014 to 2015.

Beyond the boardroom and civic duties, Alan, with his wife Gilly and sometimes family, indulged a passion for travel. They collected new memories and passport stamps along the way.

A Humorous Path to Success

From Parisian sketches to the heart of finance and governance, Alan's story is a testament to embracing the unexpected. His secret to success? A healthy dose of luck, a sense of humour, and a willingness to roll with the punches.
